It is getting closer and closer. Verona will soon be released into stores in February 2012. In fact, it’s “on the water”– being shipped from the manufacturer in Korea now! Until then, I am going to give you some little teasers on the beautiful creations that can be made with this fabric line. I have some extremely talented seamstresses/designers working on fabulous patterns, using this collection. It is impressive stuff! I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait! It feels like Christmas around here!
Here is the first in the line up, introducing my Sweet Caroline quilting square with a little unexpected twist, a ruched strip. Just imagine how beautiful this quilt is going to be put together!
With right sides together, fold 7 1/2″ x 22″ strip of fabric in half lengthwise. Using 1/4″ seam, stitch along long edges to make a tube.
Press seam in one direction; turn tube right side out. Centering seam in back press long edges of tube.
Using long machine stitches, baste 3/8″ from each long edge of tube.
Pull threads, gathering long edges, to make a 12-1/2″ long ruched strip.
Baste a scant 1/4″ from short edges to secure gathering threads.
Use a 1/2″ seam to secure the ruched strips to the other pieces of the block.
Piece the block together as shown in the diagram above.
Stand back and admire. Such a beautiful quilting square. If you have any questions please let me know, I am happy to help!
Take a look at the different color combinations available in the Verona Collection.
Until next time,
Be Inspired!
Emily
